Criminal Justice 2 is a continuation of Criminal Justice 1, with additional instruction, exploration, and course work in Leadership, middle management, and administration within all three subcategories of the criminal justice system. Students will have the opportunity to focus on a more direct career path as well as receive additional off site experiences within the local criminal justice community. Students in Criminal Justice 2 will have the chance to develop additional skills to help prepare them for this demanding and rewarding career field. Learning opportunities include field trips to criminal justice and public service facilities, discovering pathways through guest speakers, as well as participating in career level training in the criminal justice community. Students will receive training in critical analysis, conflict resolution, record keeping, technical writing, fingerprinting, investigative procedures, patrol procedures and criminal/traffic laws. How laws are created, the difference between criminal and civil laws, and law enforcement ethics will also be explored. This course is delivered in a police academy style setting where mental and physical fitness are emphasized. Classes are conducted in a professional and disciplined manner with a strong team building and participation environment paralleling the criminal justice field. This course includes progress towards an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice and career pathway to a variety of criminal justice careers including law enforcement, corrections, security and law. CPR certification included in the course. Students in the program may qualify for up to 5.4 Walla Walla Community College Credits.
