HEALTH SCIENCE CAREERS (Pre-Nursing) (Dual Credit)

Graduation Requirement Satisfied:  1.0 Junior OR Senior English; .5 Health; 1.0 Lab Science OR Science Elective; Occupational Education OR Elective for a total of 3 credits*

Students will be introduced to the healthcare field, with an emphasis on knowledge and skills applicable to many healthcare occupations. Students explore health careers in their areas of interest, as well as target high demand areas for future job opportunities. Students successfully completing all coursework, and the clinical internship, will be eligible to take the Washington State Nurse Assistant Certification (NAC) exam. Students successfully completing the course with a B or better grade may qualify to earn college credits. *Personal transportation is required for clinicals.

Students in the program may qualify for as many as 13.1 Walla Walla Community College credits. Students prepare to take the Washington State Certified Nurse Assistant (NAC) Exam (fees apply) and meet several entry requirements for Allied Health and Nursing courses. Food Handler’s Card, CPR, First Aid Certification and Blood Borne Pathogens are included in the course. Scrubs and Stethoscope will be provided for student use. A Background check, COVID-19 vaccine (at the time of this publication, 2-step TB test will be required per requirements to participate in clinical rotations at partner facilities.
